"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual,
who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."

Britishfinefoods.com is an exciting new company devoted to making quality British food from artisan producers available on the web.

Husband and Wife team Andrew and Pam Harper launched britishfinefoods.com in July 2008, both being from foodie backgrounds and having been brought up with quality home cooking a passion for good food in their home was born.

Having worked in London for 9 years for large corporate companies they decided to follow their passion and spent a year travelling round the British Isles to source the best produce the country has to offer and are now proud to be able to give you the opportunity to buy our country's best artisan products delivered to your door by shopping at britishfinefoods.com

Why did you launch British Fine Foods
Says Pam "We enjoy good food, and don’t feel enough is being done to celebrate the achievements of our artisan producers. While travelling the country we have always bought from farm shops, and have often wished that we were able to buy these at home. Britishfinefoods makes quality, regional food available outside the locale of the artisan producers with the convenience of one delivery."

Could you say what you stand for
Andy : "Quality!! We have carefully selected the food for the website sourcing from some of our favourite suppliers. Recognising that everyone has different tastes we’ve decided to mainly stock products which have been recognised as award winners by an independent body, the Guild of Fine Food, with one of their “Great Taste Awards”, or are holders of a royal warrant. That said, some suppliers are too small to enter the awards but are too good to omit so we’ve included some of these too!

We take great pride in British food:As a nation we often look abroad for the best of produce (French cheese, Italian meats, Belgian chocolate) while overlooking the treasures available to us in the UK. We have some special produce in the UK, let’s shout about it!

Whats your ethical outlook on food?
Pam "Ethical retailing is a term we use to cover our relationships with our suppliers, and with our environment. For too long our farmers and small producers have been forced to accept minimal prices for their labour from large retailers whose only concern is the bottom line. Unless people are willing to pay a fair price to these producers, their artisanal methods and rare breeds will disappear. It is our intention to restore quality, choice and ethics to purchasing food, while not sacrificing the convenience that the consumer has every right to expect. Together with our celebration of the best in British speciality foods, we commit to paying a fair price to suppliers and encouraging support for local producers.

Andy "Alongside our support for British producers lies our relationship with our environment. By sourcing only from within mainland Britain we have no air-freighted food thereby reducing the number of food miles from field to plate. Whereas some companies offer a service resulting in a separate journey for each product ordered from a different supplier, britishfinefoods reduces food miles through a ‘one order, one delivery’ policy. Our environmental commitment extends to our packaging, and our commitment never to use plastic bags at any events we attend. All the cold packaging used to ensure your food arrives in perfect order is already 60% recycled and we encourage customers to send it back to us for re-use.
